If you’re a fan of our page you may remember me making this delicious whipped coffee recipe a while back. It was my first attempt at really mastering it because yes, it is in fact a science. Dalgona coffee (Korean: 달고나커피) is a beverage made by whipping equal proportions of instant coffee powder, sugar, and hot water until it becomes creamy and then adding it to cold or hot milk. Occasionally, it is topped with coffee powder, cocoa, crumbled biscuits, or honey. {via}

Today, it is more called WHIPPED COFFEE and a huge trend on TikTok & now Pinterest. This drink is by far the coolest to create. When speaking to a real coffee addict, we will try just about anything new in the coffee world. Not only is it fun to make but it requires little ingredients.

I will mention that you have to use a whisk and not a fork. Or a hand mixer. I’m a super old fashioned gal and thought I could somehow make using a fork work but it is nearly impossible. Save yourself and use a good whisk or a handheld mixer. I haven’t tried with the mixer but I’m assuming it works way better since so many other food bloggers have used.

BEST WHIPPED COFFEE RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • instant coffee – don’t skimp, get a good brand (and also, do not attempt to do a homemade instant coffee recipe because that too doesn’t make it come out the same)
  • hot water – do not scald
  • sugar – use granulated

You’ll need:

  • a large mixing bowl
  • whisk or blender
  • pot to heat the water
  • tablespoon measurement
  • ice
  • milk
  • a glass

Prepare all your ingredients and supplies. Takes about 15 minutes to make.

Take 2 tablespoons of instant coffee and pour into the large mixing bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar. Heat the 2 tablespoons of water on medium-high heat. Do NOT over heat or even wait until it reaches it’s boiling point. Add the water as soon as the water gets hot.

HOW TO MAKE DALGONA COFFEE

Start whipping with a whisk. This takes about 10 minutes and should not be stopped. If you are attempting with a mixer, I cannot attest to the process but here’s a video if you wish to watch.

She likes hers hot but I’m a total iced cold lover when we’re mixing coffee ingredients. If we’re on a date having just black coffee, I’ll drink it hot. But I like mine cold. I whipped for roughly 10 minutes and tasted as I was whipping just to get an idea of how delicious this recipe was. Super yum and strong. When it gets to about 7 minutes, you can really get an idea of what it starts to look like and honestly, if you are not making it for a photo prop….you can stop there. It’s going to end up sinking to the bottom anyways. And obviously you need to mix into the milk to make an iced coffee, so the fancy stuff is just if you’re posting about it.

Add ice to your glass and milk { about 3/4 of the way }. I use less milk because I cannot tolerate that much and I use skim. Gently scoop the whipped coffee from the bowl on top and voila….instant whipped dalgona coffee for a refreshing afternoon fix!!

Take a straw or use the spoon to mix well. PRO TIP: the longer you let it sit, the better it tastes. I left on the counter for about 45 minutes and it remained cold. Was insanely yummy! Hope you enjoy this hot trendy drink this summer and stay tuned for my coffee tonic recipe!
